Shivadwaj as a director with a modest film ‘Neene Neene’ for producer Basava Reddy has gained a good ground from ‘Gaggara’ that has recently bagged the best regional Tulu language award at the 56th national awards. This is the result of 10 years of my stay in the filmdom says Shivadwaj.

Very lively in his chat with the media at Bangalore Press Club on Friday night actor cum director Shivadwaj the regional language films need support. He remembered TS Nagabharana and Basava Reddy for giving him encouragement in his life. A shrewd thinker on the possibilities Shivadwaj has picked a subject of his wife native place ‘Palli’ that is situated in Karkala near Udupi district. This is about the traditional cultural festival that rejoins the spread out relationships. It is done as ‘Bhoota Kola’ in every Tulu speaking family and in villages in a grand scale.

The status of such traditional people is poor. What they need is the support of the government like a piece of land to cultivate and live is focused as message in the film besides the need of such traditional system. ‘Gaggara; is a social problem. The irony is the person impersonating Bhoota is ostracized as he belongs to a lower caste and is not freely allowed to mingle with the high caste people of the society. With globalization and rapid modernization the new generation decides to change and slowly take to education. This is 115 minutes film made in 16mm shot in 10 days investing Rs.10 lakhs.

Gurudutta and R Durgananda are the producers. Suresh Byrasandra is the cameraman. Suchendra Prasad, MK Mutt Uppinangadi and Jayasheela Mangalore are in the cast of this D’ Ma Cine Productions.
